GNOME Classic is the closest thing available to Ubuntu’s old desktop environment Gnome 2. The new version of Gnome Classic is actually very close to the way Ubuntu used to be so if you are having any issues adjusting to Unity then this is definitely worth a look.
How to install GNOME Classic in Ubuntu
You can install GNOME Classic either by running the command “sudo apt-get install gnome-panel” or use the following button.

After installing you need to log out and change your session to “GNOME Classic” or “GNOME Classic (No effects)”.
